Sole Proprietorship to start (CPP ~11.4%, unlimited liability, revenue taxed personally). Corporation (Inc.) for asset protection and tax optimization (corporate tax + dividends).

GST/HST/PST — how does it work?

Federal GST 5%, harmonized HST 13% or 15% depending on province. Freelance Budget supports the main rates. Registration threshold at CAD 30,000 annual revenue — below that, you're a Small Supplier (not required to charge GST).

Multi-province support?

Yes for the main taxes (GST, HST in provinces that apply it). Provincial taxes (BC PST, Quebec QST) are supported as custom for now.
